If you don't trust anyone, you can't accept anyone. According to the principle of interaction, you don't trust others, and people don't trust you. Once you have your railroad theme, track shape and size in your mind it is a great idea to have a scale-sized track plan in front of you while you work. I have used both full-sized track plans from your CAD system and scale sized track plans. The full size track plans work great on substantial layouts, but I'm not sure these are really worth the pain of learning problematic laptop or computer to create smaller layouts. Scale sized track plans work all right, say 1 inch = 1 foot.
