I have a Linksys Wireless G USB adapter for my desktop PC and possess used it for approximately three years now. Originally, it was purchased to work with with Windows Vista, but I have since added a fresh hard disk drive and upgraded to Windows 7. There are two methods which you can use to stop Windows 7 automatic driver installation. The most successful method looks like it's studying the Local Group Policy Editor. However, the Group Policy Editor is only for sale in the Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional or Ultimate editions. If you are using Windows 7 Home Premium or Starter editions, you will not be able to use the Group Policy Editor method and can have to try disabling automatic driver installation by changing the unit installation settings.
