In 1981, car makers started assigning a unique, 17-character code to every vehicle that is built, which is often used for various purposes, but mostly for verifying the legitimacy of vehicles. Governments and police officers agencies apply it to distinguish stolen vehicles, and motorists demand it after they place their cars with a mechanic, also it's useful when purchasing pre-owned car, so that you can manage a vehicle history report. The insurance industry often uses vehicle identification numbers, as well. VINs are generally engraved on aluminum plates, cast or stamped, as being a bar code, or perhaps in label form, and they also is found with a car's steering column, doorjamb, driver's door, passenger side door, dashboard, too as in a vehicle's maintenance book and title.
Background: In 1960, TELCO [now known as Tata Motors] finalized a legal contract with Daimler Benz AG of Germany for manufacturing trucks in India. Telco stood a seven-year contract with Daimler Benz. Those models were created in World War II, which trucks were robust.
