Young Diesel graduated near the top of his class in 1873 and signed up for the Industrial School of Augsburg. Two years later he enrolled at the Royal Bavarian Polytechnic in Munich. He would have graduated in July 1879, but he was sick with typhoid fever. He graduated in January 1880 and moved returning to Paris.
