Note that the epoxy adhesive curing speed varies depending on temperature. At higher temperatures it dries faster, but has less resistance and firmness. Some algae species are 50% or more lipid oil by weight. This oil may be pressed from the algae and refined into diesel. The process for extracting algal oil, at its simplest level, resembles pressing an olive. Up to 75% from the oil might be squeezed from algae using a simple mechanical press. Hexane might be used being a solvent to raise extraction up to 95%. Once extracted, the oil is refined through transesterification. A catalyst including sodium hydroxide is combined with alcohol to make biodiesel and glycerol.
