They read a marketing and advertising document stating that this new NAS dedup appliance can do approximately 650 MB/s, purchase it and connect it for their LAN using multiple 1 GbE ports. They start backups to discover that their performance is well below those of both the or 4 GBs fiber channel VTL that they had just replaced.
