Car thieves tamper while using VIN number of a stolen vehicle to be able to sell its parts, license it within a new identity, or get the vehicle from the country. A VIN can be changed in several ways, but the most-commonly used methods include removing in the part in the car where the VIN is found and replacing it with a new part, grinding, or changing one or multiple numbers or letters of the VIN.
